Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus and Its Impact

PEDV risk assessments are underway across many swine operations.
Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV)

Conversations at the World Pork Expo on Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) drew in many pork producers, animal health professionals, and the supporting pork groups like the National Pork Producers Council, National Pork Board, American Association of Swine Veterinarians, and the USDA.

PEDV has newly been discovered on farm operations and many people want to learn more about the disease, how they can diagnose, contain, and (hopefully) eliminate it. [audio] offers some updates from the Expo's PEDV Panel with Dr. Tom Burkgren, Executive Director, American Association of Swine Veterinarians; Dr. Gregory Stevenson, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Iowa State University; Dr. Lisa Becton, National Pork Board; and Dr. Lisa Ferguson, USDA [audio].

Also, the National Pork Producers Council CEO Neil Dierks briefed the attendees on the current status of PEDV [audio].
