Over 140 farmers, ranchers, and agriculture communication people gained insight and inspiration from the keynotes and their peers while in Austin, TX for the Cultivate & Connect conference.

The AgChat Foundation's 2014 Cultivate & Connect conference was held in Austin, TX, August 21 and 22, with over 140 farmers, ranchers, and ag communications professionals attending from the U.S., Canada, and Australia. The resounding theme of the event was to learn more about how digital and social media can assist with cultivating open-minded conversation with consumers while connecting them to agriculture's story.

What happens when the price of an ingredient for pizza is 50% cheaper just a few miles away? What happens when that few miles requires crossing international borders and covert action to get those ingredients to the pizza making shop?

Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. smuggled spirits across the Canadian–American border into the USA and pharmaceuticals from Canada looked to be a real business for awhile. Now the track is reversed with US made mozzarella being smuggled into Canada.
