Grain elevators and grain shippers must keep a vigilant watch out for moisture. With moisture comes mold and fungus, which can make the grain unusable, and worse, kill animals that eat it.

Moisture and food are just what fungi needs to thrive. Fungi can grow in little or no natural light and absorb nutrients from sources like stored grain. One byproduct of fungi growth is mycotoxin. Mycotoxins have a real toxic side effects to other plants, animals, and humans, requiring methodical review of how crops are processed and grains are handled to avoid animals from becoming sick or getting cancer.
