High temperatures across the USA have been a departure from the 1981 2010 average. The persistent heat from the summer of 2011 had more than 70 days over 100 degrees in some spots across the USA and every state has had temps over 100 degrees. The 2012 World Pork Expo brought nearly 20,000 pork producers and industry leaders from 38 countries to Des Moines, Iowa, for the world's largest pork-specific trade show. For the producer, some of the highlights included the trade show floor with about 500 exhibitors, the Pork Academy, and the updates on the industry by the National Pork Producers Council.
