Editor's Note: This presentation has been removed at the request of the presenter.

James Keesling, U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), presents information on the approach law enforcement is taking to understand activism an extremism in the context of animal rights and animal welfare. Mr. Keesling shares the FBI's view on pathways and precursors to violence and focus on trends and emerging threats.

The mere advocacy of political or social positions, political activism, use of strong rhetoric, or generalized philosophic embrace of violent tactics may not constitute extremism, and may be constitutionally protected.

Mr. Keesling closes with the FBI's position on the future of animal rights extremism.
