Can Organic Practices Reduce Antibiotic-resistant of Enterococci?

Tag terms:

Public concern over the use of antibiotics in livestock production has pushed the issue into researchers hands. While it is believed that antibiotic use does cause certain bacteria to become drug resistant, there have been no U.S. studies to investigate on farm changes. A 2008 study was published August 10, 2011 that looked at conventional poultry farm transition to organic practices and cease using antibiotics. The study concluded that the voluntary removal of antibiotics from large-scale U.S. poultry farms, in the course of becoming organic, is associated with a lower prevalence of antibiotic-resistant.
