Update for January 29th, 2009

We hoped 500 year floods would give way to more temperate conditions in 2009 but significant ice storms are hindering road based transportation. Commodity Classic is a natural location for review of the new Obama administration’s first one hundred days. Just this week significant new economic stimulus legislation (read ‘spending’) passed Capitol Hill. Producers need reassurance that lending will continue. Conversations with the Farm Credit Service in the U.S. and Canada shows a large increase in their portfolios.
