The mixed strain swine influenza virus is shutting down the world’s transportation system. Europe called for limited travel to the U.S. and Mexico, then found the bug had already skipped the Atlantic.

California took another step toward becoming a protein production-free zone as the state legislature passed out of committee a bill which would limit use of antibiotics in livestock production. The proposal would disallow purchase and distribution for school meal programs products in which antibiotics had been generally used as early as 2012.
