Truffle Media Update for July 14, 2009, Nebraska farmer highlighted on CNN and #agchat

July 14th, 2009

What is being said in agriculture new/social media?
  • Last week, Steve Tucker in Brandon, Nebraska, was interviewed by CNN (video , written post) because of his use of social media while he manages his 4,000 acre farm. "When you can put a name or personality with someone who's actually raising corn and soybeans or actually milking cows, that's the most important thing that's come about in my opinion," Steve told CNN.
  • Steve's CNN interview was also the topic of conversation on the regular Twitter #agchat gathering July 7th. Tykerman1 (Steve's Twitter name) said "What I have been surprised with is the GREAT Response from people who are on Agricultures side and appreciate what we do."(sic) Read more from the #agchat question summary and full post of all the #agchat conversations.
  • Reminder: #agchat is every Tuesday, 8pm - 10pm Eastern time on Twitter. Learn more at AgChat.
  • FYI, multiple Farm Credit Services organizations are using Facebook to help market their services, capture input from customers, and as an information outlet. Some examples include GreenStone FCS, FCS of Mid-Atlantic, Carolina FCS, and FCS of Mid-America.
